Further Information about FOLIC FORCE

Click the + to read more, or scroll down to use our 'Pack Finder' to discover which type of FOLIC FORCE you need for your dog.
WHen should i give folic acid?
FOLIC FORCE is most commonly given from the time of mating and continued through until whelp. Supplementing throughout the key window for neural tube formation and early foetal development is crucial to support healthy puppy development. Some owners choose to begin supplementation earlier during season or in the pre-breeding phase as a precaution, especially if they’ve had prior concerns. Folic Acid is a water-soluble B-vitamin, so regular daily intake is important. Because it’s not stored in the body for long, missing days may reduce the benefit — consistency is key and sooner, the better.
how much do i give?
We recommend the following number of FOLIC FORCE capsules, based on her risk category:
  • Standard-risk breeds & pregnancies: 1 capsule daily (purchase the Standard-Risk pack)
  • Increased-risk breeds & pregnancies: 2 capsules daily (purchase the Increased-Risk pack)
  • High-risk pregnancies, brachy breeds or those with family history: 5 capsules daily, ideally started prior to mating (purchase the High-Risk pack)
If you're unsure how much to give your female, use our FOLIC FORCE Pack Finder calculator below. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to advise.

Why is your folic acid so good?
Unlike many high-dose folic acid tablets intended for human use, our supplements are carefully considered with dogs in mind. Each capsule contains pure, clean folic acid — in the safe and legally permitted strength for supplementation in the UK.

Unlike cheaper alternatives, we don’t use synthetic binders, artificial flavours, or bulking agents. Just clean, consistent folic acid in an easy-to-feed capsule, so you can confidently tailor your girl’s dose according to her breed and risk category - if you're not sure which pack size you need, just use our simple FOLIC FORCE Pack Finder quiz below.

Other options on the market are often harder to dose, contain unnecessary additives, or require splitting awkward tablets. With CNC FOLIC FORCE, the capsule can simply be opened and the contents mixed into food — perfect for dogs who dislike taking pills! As always, we offer personalised guidance with every order, so you're never left guessing when it matters most.
What are the ingredients?
Just pure Folic Acid in a vegetable cellulose shell, with natural rice flour. That's it.
What is the difference between the 3 packs?
We offer 3 different pack sizes of FOLIC FORCE so you can tailor your supplementation plan to your girl, her breed and her risk factor. If you're not sure which pack size you need, take our Pack Finder quiz below for guidance.

All of our FOLIC FORCE options contain the same, high quality ingredients, it's simply the number of capsules that differ in each pack. The:
  • Standard Pack contains 65 capsules - this will last a standard risk female an entire pregnancy
  • Increased-Risk Bundle contains 130 capsules - enough for an increased-risk female's entire pregnancy
  • High-Risk/Brachy Bundle contains 325 capsules - enough for an entire highest-risk pregnancy

Understanding 'risk' categories...
Many breeds are at a predisposed risk to puppy developmental problems such as cleft palates, midline, and neural tube defects. When deciding how much Folic Acid to give to a female, you should consider her risk. Our Pack Finder (above) is a helpful tool to help you decide which supplementation plan to follow, considering your female's breed and her family history.

Highest risk pregnancies - Any female that has already had a puppy with a birth defect (cleft palate, hairlip, midline or neural tube defect), or has family history. Or, any Brachy breed (or breed mix) female.

Increased risk pregnancies - There are several non-brachycephalic breeds that are still at higher risk of puppy problems. Any of those breeds fall into this category. The list is extensive and can be found below.

Standard risk pregnancies - Any female that is not a brachycephalic breed, nor a breed (or breed mix) at increased risk of puppy problems.
Which breeds are highest risk?
There are many breeds that are at higher risk of puppy problems. Any female that has previously had (or has family history of) a puppy with cleft palate, hairlip, midline or neural tube issues falls into this category regardless of her breed.
